There is something pretty cool about being published at age 17. It’s even more cool when you’re that child’s parent. Oh, yeah, because bragging rights exist. And they are ours alone! Meet Candace Nicole Alphin, age 17. She’s been working at learning photography, in her spare time, for about three years. She has an amazing mentor, Barry Davis (of Barry Davis Photography), and well… here we are.

I believe in being modest in praise and not working to build unhealthy pride. But, come on, give me some room. She’s worked really hard to get to this place. Candace’s dream is to attend a polytechnic school, in Finland, with photography as part of her major or minor, whichever works best. She wants to remain in Europe as a missionary, and ever since she was eleven years old, she has looked at professions that would help her achieve that goal. Senior year is still a reality, but that chapter will be over soon. Whatever Candace decides to do, we believe that she will accomplish it. She’s just that kind of girl.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. (Proverbs 23:24)
